Labour on NAMA

Slí Eile: See the Labour Party statement on NAMA.
Its position is outlined and includes this:
Labour believes that the commercial retail banks should ultimately be privately owned, and that
nationalisation should be only temporary – for as long as is necessary to sort out the current crisis.

The first part of the document (that highlights the problems with the draft NAMA Bill as it stands) is superb. The second (outlining its proposed approach_ needs a lot more work. Still we should probably be grateful there is evidence that some few grey cells are working with the recognition that nationalisation should only be temporary. It is ironic what the party with the least chance of being the dominant player in governmsnt has the best outline bank resolution proposal.
